Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program Names New Executive Director

Nov. 25, 2024, DENVER—The Colorado Judicial Branch is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth "Liz" Lembo, LPC, LAC, as the new Executive Director of the Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program (COLAP), the state's lawyer assistance program dedicated to promoting the well-being, resiliency, and competency of Colorado's legal community. 

With a mission to address behavioral health concerns such as mental health challenges, substance use, and addiction issues, COLAP has provided invaluable support to legal professionals for over a decade. The program helps promote and support the wellbeing of Colorado's legal community by fostering healthier practices, educating and consulting, and connecting legal professionals with support referrals. 

Liz Lembo is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor with a Master of Science in Counseling and an anticipated Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision in Spring 2025. She is currently a clinical coordinator on the COLAP team, assisting members of the legal profession with behavioral health issues. She is also the treatment provider liaison and the publications liaison, and her duties include content creation and editing of COLAP articles, reports, and materials. Liz's clinical experience includes evidence-based treatment of behavioral health issues, including substance use, PTSD, mood, and anxiety disorders. Her expertise and vision will further COLAP's critical work, enhancing its capacity to address the unique challenges faced by members of the legal profession.
