Judge Cory Jackson was appointed District Judge for Colorado’s Seventh Judicial District in
2017. He formerly served as Ouray County Judge, and as municipal judge for Ouray, Ridgway
and Telluride.
Judge Jackson received his law degree from the University of Colorado Law School in 2005. In
2002, he received a Bachelor of Arts with honors in economics from The Colorado College.
Prior to his appointments to the bench, Judge Jackson was a corporate attorney specializing in
telecommunications regulation. He has served numerous community and nonprofit
organizations including the Ouray Mountain Rescue Team, and is currently part of the volunteer
faculty at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA). He enjoys skiing, cycling, fishing and
spending time with his longtime partner Ann Morgenthaler.
As a District Judge, he handles criminal, civil, juvenile, probate, mental health and domestic
relations cases.
