Judge Collins was appointed as a District Court Judge in May 2021. Prior to that he served as a District Court Magistrate from March 2019 to May 2021. Prior to being appointed, he was a part-time magistrate for the City & County of Denver, a judge pro-tem for the City of Westminster, and a criminal defense attorney. Magistrate Collins began his legal career as an intern with the Boulder District Attorney’s office. He became a deputy district attorney upon graduating law school, where he remained for three years. After that, he was the founding partner of the Boulder law firm Collins, Rafik & Jacobson, where he remained until his Boulder District Court Magistrate appointment. He received his undergraduate degree from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law.
