Bio

Chief Judge Seedorf was appointed to serve as a district court judge in the 17th Judicial District in November of 2019. 

After rotations presiding over domestic relations, civil, and criminal dockets, he was appointed to serve as Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial District effective January of 2024. In addition to his administrative duties, he currently presides over probate, mental health, and criminal cases. 

Chief Judge Seedorf serves on several councils and committees, including the state’s Court Services Standing Committee and the district’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, where he chairs the Alternative Sanctions, Incentives, and Court Process subcommittee.

A Colorado native, Chief Judge Seedorf received his undergraduate degree from  Hastings College in 1999, and his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2002. Before his judicial appointment, he spent the majority of his legal career practicing in civil litigation. He worked both with private firms and as a government lawyer for the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Student Loan Program.
