Judge Sarah B. Cure was appointed to the 8th Judicial District Court bench by Governor Jared Polis on December 2, 2020. Prior to her appointment, she was the sole owner of The Cure Law Office for approximately 13 years and has been practicing in the private sector since 2005. Judge Cure handled complex criminal cases including grand jury indictments, violations of the Colorado Organize Crime Act, and homicides. While her practice focused largely on defending the accused in felony matters, she has experience in other areas of law, including representing respondents in civil mental health matters, juvenile direct files, post-conviction proceedings, administrative hearings, and mediation.
Judge Cure received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2001, majoring in both Sociology and Philosophy. She graduated with honors for her thesis studying juveniles tried as adults. Judge Cure earned her Juris Doctor degree in 2005 from the University of New Hampshire – Franklin Pierce School of Law where she interned for the Attorney General’s Office Homicide Unit. She was sworn into the Colorado Supreme Court and District Court of Colorado in 2005 and was sworn into the United States Supreme Court in 2017.
